Nought to Sixty

Mon 29th Sep 2008 (evening).

We've been invited to do something for the Nought to Sixty the ICA. Open Music Archive are inviting selected musicians to develop cover versions/interpretations, of the out-of-copyright material in the Open Music Archive and to perform a short set of these covers (15-20mins) in the live space of the ICA.

This builds on the radio project Free to Air

Listen to an mp3 of some of the covers of Leroy Carr's Six Cold Feet by Sundowner, Liz Green, Magic Arm and Interface.

We are also planning to release a CD of cover versions at the event at the end of September 2008.

Email 3rd July 2008 to Clare Goodwin at K3

Hi Clare, Hope you are well. Just wanted to sound something out with you. Ben and I are thinking of developing a new work for the K3 leg of Loose Booty. We were thinking of putting out an invitation to 'the people of Zurich' to come to K3, on the opening night in September, to perform a cover version of Leroy Carr's 'Six Cold Feet in the Ground'. The song is out-of-copyright and housed in the Open Music Archive. Ben and I don't have any networks in Zurich to plug into - so for the project to work - we would be relying heavily on you guys to round up support at that end. We could make a poster that could be cheaply printed out/photocopied at that end and put up around town to call for participants. If we could get it to work - we think it would make a really fun event, we could make a recording/video etc. let me know what u think, best, Eileen and Ben

The project will be launched at a live event as part of:

Loose Booty at K3 - Project Space
Hardstrasse 219 - 8005 Zürich
27 September - 5 October 2008

more details coming soon

Clips Blips and Loops (ongoing)

We are inviting electronic music producers to work exclusively with out-of-copyright mechanical music box recordings to cut, splice, reorder and rearrange the material to make beats, breaks, clips, blips and loops that are copyleft and available for others to build on and use in the future.
